
The “El Jefe” cigar tour will follow the logical path of the tobacco, from seed to the "El Jefe" Cigar, the top Puerto Rican Cigar. Ty will guide you though the fields and factories explaining all of the very labor intensive processes that lead to producing the best cigars in the world. He will also give you plenty of spare time during the trip to explore the cigar shops of Puerto Rico and smoke wonderful cigars.

Ty Freeman "El Jefe" Cigars will cover cost of lodging, food, and transportation from March 8th - 11th.
You will be responsible for Airfare. Airfare on January 10th from Pittsburgh to San Juan PR was $416.00
I would suggest staying over Sunday Night in San Juan we will look for a cool Hotel.
Airfare is a lot less if you return on Monday or Tuesday.

Day 2 – Visit Comerio, PR the “Bordeaux” of cigar tobacco | |
7.30 – 9:30 | Breakfast at Casa Grande Plantation. |
9.30am | Depart for Comerio area , the top tobacco region in Puerto Rico. Here you will visit Palomos, Pinas, Rio Hondo and Vega Honda, the four wards the region is centered around. Our tour will follow the logical path of the tobacco from seed to the rolling tables explaining all of the very labor intensive processes that lead to producing the best cigars in the world. We will start by visiting the Experimental Station, which is responsible for all of the seeds that are used for the export quality cigar tobacco growth. Here they will explain the way in which they continue to experiment with tobacco to find ways to improve the field, repel insects and other important factors.

2.30pm | Leave our factory for the Museo de Tobacco Caguas, Puerto Rico. |
3.00pm | Arrive at the Museo de Tobacco (VIP pre check-in)

7.30pm | Back to Casa Grande Plantation for drinks and dinner with workers. |
8.30pm | Music Entertainment and – more cigars.

Day 3 – Visit your first Puerto Rico Cigar Factory and getting to know Old Puerto Rico | |

9.00am | Depart for a Puerto Rico Cigar Factory tour. At the factory you will see all of the processes involved in the production of this high quality hand rolled cigars. It is important to visit the factory early as this is when all of the processes can be viewed. After the factory tour you will have the chance to buy and try their cigars in the factory shops. After the factory tour there will be a walk through Old Puerto Rico stopping at various cigar shops in order for you to see which cigars are available for purchase and give you opportunity to try cigars you may not have seen before. This walk will finish with drinks and lunch in old town San Juan at a refurbished boutique hotel that is dedicated to cigar smokers. The central courtyard is a great place to stop for a drink and a cigar On the mezzanine floor in the courtyard is a super cigar shop and bar offering a good selection of cigar brands and some slightly lesser known cigars.. |
4.30pm | Return to Comerio to relax with a good cigar, or have a siesta. |
8.00pm | Depart for dinner in Comerio, Puerto Rico at Batey Bohemio, famous for its traditional Puerto Rican dishes. Followed by bars and live music clubs for those who wish.

Some of us will be staying longer, either before or after the actual El Jefe Cigar Trip. If you have an interest in staying longer, please let me know, we could possibly rent a house. Maximum number of people for "El Jefe" trip is 15, you are confirmed when you go thru me (Jim) leafandbeanstrip@aol.com and when you buy your plane ticket, do not buy any tickets without confirming with me first.

Cigar portion of the trip is over on Sunday, however airfare to return on Sunday is more expensive, it makes more sense to stay over Sunday night and fly back on Monday, even with the expense of hotel room for Sunday night you would save money flying home on Monday.
